New Construction

New construction is Habitat for Humanity Lakeside’s traditional home building program. The New Construction program is aimed towards first time homeowners seeking to own a decent, safe, and affordable home.

We build our homes with the “sweat equity” of our homeowners who work in conjunction with volunteers to complete their projects.  Every year hundreds of volunteers from faith institutions, schools, corporations, and civic groups help us to build homes from the ground up, participating in every aspect of home construction.  Find out more about volunteering by visiting our volunteer page.

To find out more about homes that Habitat for Humanity has built in the past and is currently building be sure to check out our homes page.

Home Rehabilitation

Habitat for Humanity Lakeside’s Home Rehabilitation program is aimed towards first time homeowners seeking to own a decent, safe, and affordable home. We rehabilitate existing homes with the “sweat equity” of our homeowners who work in conjunction with volunteers. Habitat for Humanity Lakeside acquires these homes through purchase or by donation from generous donors. When a home is donated to HFHL, typically it is rehabbed with a partner family in mind so that the home fits their needs.

A Brush with Kindness

The A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) program serves families and individuals who already live in and own their homes. The program will focus on exterior home repair services such as painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, wheelchair ramp building, and exterior clean-up.

A Brush with Kindness uses groups of 10-20 volunteers who work alongside the homeowner, donated materials, and no interest loans to makes home exterior repairs affordable, helping low-income homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their revitalized homes.

A Brush with Kindness is a partner to Habitat for Humanity Lakeside’s core building program. It allows us to serve a different population than we currently serve, yet follows the same basic tenets for eligibility (need, ability to pay, willingness to partner). It is a direct fit with Habitat for Humanity International’s strategic plan to exponentially increase the number of families served.

By using the A Brush with Kindness initiative, Habitat for Humanity Lakeside hopes to help revitalize the appearance of whole neighborhoods, encourage connections within the community, and most importantly, help preserve affordable housing in Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties.
