Habitat for Humanity Lakeside was founded in January of 1993 by a small group of local Sheboygan County citizens and interested Lakeland College students who admired the Habitat concept of building simple, decent homes in partnership with people in need. The affiliate, then called Sheboygan County Habitat for Humanity, served only Sheboygan County, which included a campus chapter from Lakeland College. In 2001, the affiliate expanded its geographical boundaries when a group of citizens from Ozaukee County desired to organize a Habitat chapter to serve their community. The board of directors chose to rename the affiliate Habitat for Humanity Lakeside to reflect the affiliate’s expanded service area.
